Once the material was collected
in Chandigarh we went for the editing. Sunday 16th of September we
work on the Architecture College at the Chandigarh University, non-stop.
Organized by groups and coordinated by the professors every group develop two
layouts: one focus on the edition of the pictures taken the day before and the second
in a floor plan that had to synthetize the concept they were working with.

During one
day students were focus on one single concept related to the Chandigarh
Interface strip. Keeping focus in one single aspect was not a simple task. They
have to identify what it was relevant and create their own representation
system. And with the strict limitation of onw day time. Journey finished at
18.00.

The workshop really enriched us with some of the very crucial parameters of urban design influencing the peripheral boundaries of Chandigarh. It was an efficient thought provoking exercise that turned out to be really fruitful with all the efforts of the team collectively.
ReplyDeleteDear Lakshit,
DeleteCongratulations for your work and enthusiasm. Can you please describe what was the concept you have worked on? How you interpreted the city boundaries?
We worked on the city limits defined by the boundaries around the building envelope.
DeleteWe observed how the built mass is confined within the boundary wall defining a limitation, be it the residential unit or the landscaped zone.
The limitations and laws imposed protects the city from developing an unorganized settlement in the area.
The workshop was absolutly wonderful. It was an amazing eperience for the students and to the entire team of the workshop. The best part of the workshop was the analysis of parameters based on the urban character of "city beautiful" that are linked to the peripheral development like various activities going on the preiphery, limits, percentage of green, day and night analysis, commercial activities etc.. which was analyzed later on in the studio through maps, sketches, videos and photograps.
ReplyDeleteTheir was an incredible learning process throughtout the workshop. Also I would appretiate the special efforts made by Prof. Daniel who inspired the students to be a part of this interisting workshop.
I wish such workshops would be conducted in near future.
Thank you a lot. I hope that works like this will contribute Chandigarh even better and more beautiful.

ReplyDeleteNow i see the city as a more different thought.
I would like to be the part of such interactive hand on workshop and research work in future.
In terms of visualization, what has changed on the way you see and look the city now?
DeleteThe peripheral interface in it's self is an entity joining two different growth pattern, with the help of whole team,we understood the transitional space as well as learning was a good collaborate process which helped in inculcating the urban design phenomenon
ReplyDeleteMany and intense transformations take place along the city limits. To analyze and describe those processes are a challenge, but also a good motivation. This information is crucial to act through your design projects.
DeleteWhat is your learning from the topic you have studied?
It was a great experience , studying the interdependency of the city peripheral with the interior of the city n neighborhing cities , which emphasize the importance of urbanism in the human Architecture
ReplyDeleteHow you will describe this interdependence regarding the topic you have analyzed?
DeleteThe workshop helped us to analyse city's precinct with a different vision which was totally new experience.
ReplyDeleteWhat are your feelings about the city boundaries after the workshop? Is it a continue and homogeneous space?
DeleteIt was an amazing experience to work with Prof. Lorenzo and studying various activities and development along the outskirts of Chandigarh city ,considering the day and night analysis, the sound of the city, activities influenced by landscaping etc.It was a great experience to learn under this type of guidance and vision
ReplyDeleteDear Paul. Your work focused in the organization and position of informal activities along the strip. What are the learnings from your studies?
DeleteThe workshop helped us in a better way to explore some of the new parameters of urban planning. It was a good experience.
ReplyDeleteThe stretch tracking by foot and by rikshaws helped us to observe some of the aspects of the area which we have never observed before.
We got to learn a systematic process of studying on the field and the after work in the studio in a time bound.
Such workshops should be a part of academic curriculum.
Could you shortly describe your work and findings?
DeleteThis workshop helped us in learning various activities and it's influence on people and their movements around the fringes area of the "city beautiful".Such a great experience to gain knowledge from Prof. Dr. Daniel Lorenzo.
